As ever, the BRIT Awards produced some incredible fashion and beauty moments, but taking home the trophy for best beauty look of the night, in our books, is Ellie Goulding. The singer turned up to the red carpet wearing her usually mid-length hair in long, flowing waves that gave her a very 'goddess-like' look.

Now, we can let you in on the secrets behind the style because we've just had a full hair breakdown from the night drop into our inbox. Ellie's hairstyling came courtesy of Anastasia Stylianou, who used a customisable haircare brand to give the star seriously sleek and conditioned strands.

Anastasia explains: “To wash and prep the hair, we used Function of Beauty Wavy Shampoo and Conditioner bases [£12 here] and added in the Deep Condition, Strengthen and Shine Hair Goal Boosters [£4 here]. The wavy base really helps to enhance the natural wave in the hair, plus the boosters we choose will help to nourish and protect the hair with added shine.”

“When ready to style, I used the Function of Beauty Soft Bounce Texturising Spray [£13 here] adding in the Anti-Frizz, Shine and Strengthen Hair Goal Boosters [£4 here]. I used the texture spray on mid-lengths and ends when the hair was 95% dry. This was to ensure the treatments really soaked into the hair and gave maximum shine."

While Ellie's hair definitely stole the show, we've also been marvelling at Zara McDermott's red carpet make-up after she took to the red carpet looking red hot in a scarlet dress and matching lipstick. If you've got an event coming up where you want to recreate a similar look with a statement lip and glowy skin, you can also shop Zara's exact beauty toolkit thanks to her new Instagram post which breaks down the look.

The former Love Islander revealed that she used two products to create her dreamy makeup base, citing the L'Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion, £18.75 here, and the L'Oréal Paris True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum, £11.99 here (was £14.99), as the products responsible.

Sharing a snap of the beauty products to her Instagram stories, Zara wrote: “Mixing True Match with some tinted serum, and also some GLOTION!” before adding: “The dream base for BRITS makeup.”

Are Ellie and Zara proving that high-end beauty products for red carpet events are out? We're not sure, but what we do know is that you don't need to splash out hundreds of pounds to get an award-winning look.
