Warhol's impact on the 1960s art scene was profound as he defied the conventional boundaries between fine art and mass culture, elevating ordinary subjects to the realm of high art. Warhol, initially at least, had no qualms about being successful in the commercial world, working under his own name and accepting Art Director's Awards in 1952, 1956 and 1957 and the American Institute of Graphic Art Award in 1954.
