I'm from the Swedish west coast where I grew up with sailing as the main vacation activity. As a teenager I started sailing traditional ships, I loved the sailing, the teamwork and the unique way of exploring the world. I still have the goal of sailing to all continents of the world. Many years later I decided sailing in my vacation was not enough and made sailing my profession after 13 years working in an office. After sailing many different ships, sailing with cargo, guests or young trainees I got the opportunity to join the crew of the Eye of the Wind in August 2022. Now I'm looking forward to exploring the world together with you as well as guiding you when we are sailing in the archipelagos of Sweden. When sailing, I try to work with nature and almost always find this is the easy way.

When I'm not sailing on the Eye of the Wind you might find me cleaning up beaches, teaching navigation or back in my old office simulating ship maneuvering.

I'm from Western Australia, where my father took me sailing as a child. As I got older, I sailed on an Australian sail training ship as a volunteer watch leader - that was in 2008.

Before I attended the Sailing Academy in Fremantle/Australia, I worked on several ships. After finishing my education there, I sailed overseas for the first time and took part in Tall Ships' Races in European waters.

I first saw the Eye of the Wind in 2013, when she was cruising off the Caribbean island of Saint-Barthélemy under full sails, and I instantly fell in love with the ship. One year later, I joined her crew as a deckhand, today I work as her captain. As a Master, I am allowed to operate vessels up to a size of 3000 GT (Gross Tons).

I would love to sail around Cape Horn with the Eye of the Wind one day. Until then, I love to share my experience with our fellow sailors. I hope that I can make you feel as passionate for sailing as I do!

Hello!

I am Moritz, and I grew up in Germany. Even when I was a child I was always very enthusiastic for holidays and traveling to the sea.

I love to feel the nature at close range - be it climbing, hiking, or sailing.

I am glad to work on this really beautiful ship in a well-rehearsed team, and I would be very happy to welcome you to an adventure on board!

Since the age of 26, I am working in seafaring. In Enkhuizen, the Netherlands, I attended the Seafaring School, and at the end of my entire training, I earned the title "Master (all ships)". After a long time on mechant ships, my way now led back to sailing - finally!

I've known the Eye of the Wind for a long time, because a colleague from the Nautical School was her captain for nine years - so my predecessor. Sailing is a beloved and lived passion for me. The special thing about this ship is: I am the captain on board, but I can not sail alone from A to B - here everyone works together.

Our sailors will get to know me as an adventurous and enthusiastic seafarer, I am especially looking forward to the long trips to distant places. My dream destination with the Eye of the Wind? - The island world of the South Pacific!

I grew up on the Orkney Islands, where I could look out over the ocean from my room. I have sailed since my earliest childhood, first on small dinghies. At the age of 10 I became a member of the local sailing club and at 15 I took part in my first sailing camp in Dartmouth/England. The program there included one week of "sail training" on a tall ship. There I got a lot of inspiration and sailing knowledge ... and in me arose the desire to travel a lot.

Later I helped to refit a large schooner and spent a summer as a crew member on yachts, tall ships and schooners. During this time I was able to learn a lot from experienced sailors.

I have been a crew member on the Eye of the Wind since December 2020. I quickly made new friends here and was able to get to know people from different backgrounds. I am looking forward to my first Atlantic crossing under sail, and I would also enjoy a complete circumnavigation. I find the seldom visited places of the world especially appealing. So, I am looking forward to our next sailing trip together!
